SEARCH, LOCATE, REPORT
Our Mission Statement:
To assist and augment any of the recognised emergency services (only when requested to do so, in an emergency situation) through use of our own general aviation aircraft, as flown by volunteer private pilot members of Highland Air Search, in a search and surveillance capacity.
In Pursuance Of Our Mission Statement:
Highland Air Search (HAS) will invite appropriately qualified volunteer members to assist the recognised emergency services with the provision of aerial search and surveillance such as we may be requested to provide on an 'ad hoc' basis.
We have a small fleet of aircraft, all owned by our volunteer pilot members. All volunteer pilots provide their time and aircraft completely free of charge, although donations towards the operating expenses of the service are much needed.
HAS is not an emergency service and does not operate on an immediate response basis.
However, a telephone call from any one of the recognised emergency services will normally result in an aircraft being made available, for humanitarian or community tasks.
HAS provides a much needed resource for simple air observation and search operations, either when an emergency search aircraft is not available, or the task is not appropriate to involve a large and expensive professional aircraft and crew.
HAS always gives first priority to the professional air emergency services and always clears an area when the professionals arrive to take over.
Any emergency service, voluntary organisation or individual members of the public, may call upon Highland Air Search.
